Police Officer Arrested For Extortion After He Was Set Up With N120k In Imo State (Photos+Video)

A social activist and Facebook user identified as Prince Emefiele Harrison, has taken to his Facebook page to reveal how the IG of Police Xsquad arrested a Police Inspector, Tom Edet of the Ihiagwa Division Police station Nekede in Imo State over N120,000 extortion.

According to Harrison, Tom and two of his colleagues, Sergeant Bassey and Charity, currently on the run, arrested a young man from Delta state and detained him after he was unable to pay the N400,000 they were asking for as bail. His family got in touch with Emefiele who runs Behind Bars Initiative.

Emefiele and his team including some policemen, decided to set the police officers up. They gave the erring officers N120,000 that was marked, which they collected before releasing the young man who was in Imo on a visit.

He posted a video and wrote: “BBI & IGP Xsquad arrest Inspector Tom Edet of Nigeria Police Ihiagwa Divisioner Police station Nekede Imo State over N120,000 Extortion.

“His accomplice Seargent Bassey and Charity are on the run. He collected N120,000 from BBI undercover agent not knowing the money was marked.

“Inspector Tom Edet and others refused to release a young Deltan who traveled to Imo State, detained him for days. His family contacted Behind Bars Defeders because they couldn’t pay N400,000 demanded.”
