In years to come, fans of Tiwa Savage will look back and remember the night of August 24th, 2018 as the night the singer reclaimed her hitherto perceived shaky crown and cemented her place as the reigning queen of African music. On that night, she put on the show of a lifetime in front of over 3,000 fans and put to bed every question of her vocal capabilities.
But what a lot of people might not remember or even know is that the success of the singer’s first-ever headline concert, while largely dependant on her superstardom and craftsmanship, was thanks to a few incredibly brilliant women who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure that everything went according to plan.w
We take a look at some of these women below.
Vanessa Amadi-Ogbonna (PR Guru)
From Whitney Houston to Usher Raymond and Destiny’s Child, Vanessa has worked with some of the biggest names in entertainment globally. Her PR coy, VA-PR handles publicity for Tiwa Savage, and was heavily on duty before, during and after the concert. If the success of an event or brand truly depends on how well it is publicized, then it’s safe to say that Vanessa and her team did a thoroughly amazing job.

Dayo Rasheeda (Makeup Artist)

A few months ago, Miss Savage was under fire after a video of her struggling with her vocals at a concert surfaced on the internet. The songstress promised her fans she was going to take some time to work on her voice and that was exactly was she did! Tiwa sounded noticeably better than she has in a long time and it is all thanks to vocal coach Rachel Kerr. Rachel is a British singer/songwriter and the founder of performing act academy Singercise. She has provided vocal coaching to key international talent platforms such as X Factor and The Voice, as well as vocal training for celebrities like P-Square, Waje and UK girl group Neon Jungle.
Tiwa loved how good she sounded at her show so much that she took to her Instagram to give Rachel a shoutout.

Irene Agbontaen (Designer/Stylist)
One of the highlights of Tiwa Savage’s London concert was the unveiling of her merch which sold at her pop-up shop a day before her concert and also at her concert.
The colourful and trendy collection which included neon-coloured biker shorts, sweatshirts and hooded tees among other pieces, was a result of the singer’s collaboration with designer and stylist Irene Agbontaen.
