Gunmen suspected to be assassins murdered the branch chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, for Obollo Afor, Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Emmanuel Emeka Agundu was lured out of his base at Obollo Afor to Nsukka Local Government Area in the state where he was shot severally at Nru area of the town last Sunday.
Vanguard reports that an attempt was made on his life over a month ago when some unknown gunmen shot him in the head but he was revived in hospital. State Police Spokesman, Ebere Amaraizu confirmed the killing of Agundu, saying that “we are on the matter.
According to sources, the late NBA chairman was a young lawyer who had his head heavily bandaged when he attended the valedictory court session in honour of late KC Nweze, a member of the NBA at Obollo Afor on Tuesday August 21, 2018.
“At the court session, he was escorted by armed policemen due to the earlier attack on him,” a lawyer who pleaded anonymity said.

The sad news of the assassination of Mr. Emeka Agundu – the Chairman of Obollo Afor Branch of the NBA and demise of Mr. Emeka Longinus Eze of the Abuja branch reached the President of the NBA, Mr. Paul Usoro, SAN and the National Officers yesterday.
Mr. President and the National Officers are deeply pained over these losses considering the fact that the NBA just concluded its Annual General Conference.
Messrs Agundu and Eze were respected and valued members of the bar who contributed immensely to the development of their respective branches.
Mr. President particularly thanks the Chairman and members of the Abuja branch for their efforts in contributing to the hospital bills of Mr. Eze in a bid to save his life.
Regarding the assassination of the Chairman of Obollo Afor branch, Mr. President has given assurance that he will ensure that the Police undertakes a thorough investigation with a view to bringing the culprits to book.
The NBA President has reached out to the Chairman of Abuja Branch and the Secretary of Obollo Afor Branch to express the condolences of the National Officers and members of the Nigerian Bar Association.
