Chief Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye popularly known as King Sunny Ade or KSA is a veteran Nigerian singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.
The Osogbo born juju artiste has over 100 songs to his credit with a career spanning over 4 decades.
KSA is one of Africa’s most influential artistes and one of the first to gain international prominence.

Here are 5 things you didn’t know about the legend as he turns 72 today –
- He started touring America and Europe in the ’70s.
- His 1983 album ‘Syncro System’ earned him his first Grammy award nomination in the ethnic/traditional folk recording category, making him the first Nigerian Grammy award nominee.
- His journey to Hollywood stared in the 1980s. His music was featured in the 1983 film ‘Breathless’ and the 1986 comedy ‘One More Saturday Night’ while he starred in the 1987 comedy, ‘O.C and Stiggs’.
- In December 2016, he was inducted into the Hard Rock Cafe hall of fame
- He is a visiting lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife.
