Chelsea are flying high under new manager Maurizio Sarri.
After a poor season last time out, and missing out on the Champions League, Chelsea are at the races again.
Now, defender David Luiz has claimed it’s all to do with manager Maurizio Sarri.
He noted that Sarri has brought the joy back to Chelsea. Not only that, but the manager reminds the players how lucky they are to be paid footballers.
“Sarri is giving us a lot of happiness to play football. We are trying to enjoy,” Luiz told Chelsea TV.
“He gives us a lot of confidence. He shows us what he wants. He gives us the details about the game. He works hard in every situation. And also as a human he’s a fantastic person.
“Every single day he says to us ‘you have the best job in the world, so you have to enjoy’. You have to try to do this with a big smile. Many people in the world don’t have this privilege.”
Sarri’s title ambitions
One thing that Sarri has of course done is get the players back on side.
There were several unhappy ones under Antonio Conte.
David Luiz and Willian have both come out since, and claimed they would have left if Conte had stayed.
Sarri appears to not only be getting the players back on side, but also winning over Eden Hazard.
It will be key to Chelsea if Sarri can do this, and convince the player to pen a new contract with the club.
