It was earlier reported of how a youth corp member identified as Progress Oberiko took to Facebook to share a photo of a family of 5 who are all mentally challenged.
The post went viral on social media and caught the government’s attention. Oberiko who recently rounded off her service year was recognized duly for her humanitarian services, one of which involved her shuffling between Calabar and Ogoja to raise awareness of the situation of the mentally challenged family.
The mentally unstable family, Mr Ben, his wife and three kids are now receiving medical care and undergoing rehabilitation at the Federal Psychiatric Hospital in Calabar, all thanks to the help from the young lady.
In recent photos shared on her Facebook page, Oberiko posed with her numerous awards and certificates given to her the state government. Not only was she awarded the best corp member but was also investigative journalist of the year by NYSC. See photos below.
