And just like that I almost became a Statistic, a victim of the poor roads, reckless driving and disregard of traffic laws in Nigeria. I witnessed personally the absence of emergency/Ambulance services in this state( if not the whole Nigeria), immediately I pried myself out of the car out of habit I called 911 and I was told the number does not exist, I stayed on the ground dazed for 30mins to 1hr and not one Policeman/emergency Response came to the scene of the accident.
It truly pains me greatly because effective and accessible Emergency Response/Medicine in Nigeria is what my Dad fought for till his death. One thing I know is as soon as Daddy closed his eyes forever, I gained an Angel who’s eyes never closes watching me constantly, that I could walk out of a car rammed by a truck with just a bump on the head and muscular pains when lesser accidents have claimed lives is definitely an Act of a Higher being????
A lot of deaths that have happened in this country are preventable if only Basic amenities for the citizens could be provided. 2018 has become a year I will never forget and a year I cannot wait for it to be over. Let’s raise our voices more on Emergency Response/preparedness in Nigeria, it could be your loved one who would benefit from you speaking out today. #thankful #repost#sharethispost #betternigeria
