The son of a Nigerian Soldier who was captured by Boko Haram in the viral video has cried out on social media, also accusing the Nigerian army of negligence.
Via his twitter handle @best0211, he has the viral video circulating on social media showing Nigerian soldiers murdered by Boko Haram did not happen in November as claimed, rather it happened since August.
He went on to say his father is in the video and the NIgerian Army haven’t said anything about his whereabouts.
In his words, ‘In the just released video by the Boko Haram/ ISWAP, my father is the soldier seen by captured by the Boko Haram..this incident happened on the 30th of August,2018… Nothing yet from the army as per is whereabouts’.
The Army in a statement last night also reacted to the video saying;
It is important for the public to note that the Nigerian Army has laid down procedures for reporting incidents that involve its personnel who fall casualty in action.
Out of respect for the families of our gallant troops, the Next Of Kins are first notified before any form of public information so as to avoid exacerbating the grief family members would bear, were they to discover such from unofficial sources.
