The accident was said to have occurred on Thursday evening. A personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Darazo, who did not want to be mentioned because he was not authorised to speak to the Press, said the vehicle in which the deceased were travelling in was over-speeding.
He said the travellers were on their way to Kano State from Gombe State when the vehicle somersaulted killing all passengers except two others who sustained serious injuries.
According to him, they were rushed to the Darazo General Hospital in Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State for medical care.
He added that the nineteen corpses were deposited at the mortuary at the General Hospital Darazo.
Confirming the incident to our correspondent in a telephone interview, the Head of Operations of the FRSC, Bauchi Sector Commander, Paul Guah however said 13 people died in the accident.
Guah, a Deputy Sector Commander said the vehicle, an 18-seater Hummer Bus, rammed into a trailer.
“I am out of town so I don’t have full details of the accident but what I gathered is that the Hummer Bus which was on a high speed rammed into a trailer.
“I learnt that 13 passengers were killed instantly. The injured were rushed to the hospital for treatment.”
