There was a time when children dreamt of being doctors, engineers, astronauts and the likes. Now there’s been a shift in what children consider their dream jobs and social media could be responsible for it.
A survey into what children want to be when they grow up has revealed that most of them want to be YouTube stars, especially the boys. The girls are more interested in pursuing a career in science, according to research from family activities app Hoop.
A survey of 1,000 children under the age of 16 indicated that other popular careers for girls included teaching and nursing, while for boys, football and the police came top.
Max Jennings, co-founder of Hoop, said:
It’s great to see scientist making it into the list for girls for the first time.
Career influences come from a number of .s, and the push on STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) activity within schools has clearly had a huge impact.
