A husband and wife who are both blind and have blind children, have embraced life and love wholeheartedly. The South African couple identified as, Kabelo (46) and Lulama Balopedi (30), met in March 2009 and on Wednesday they celebrated their 10th anniversary. The couple, have three blind children and one who can see.
When the SunTeam visited them at their home in Kagisanong kasi, Mangaung, South Africa, they were laughing and sharing jokes.
Kabelo said: “We can do everything on our own without asking for anyone’s help. We managed to raise our children and this has shown me that God is good. “He gave us the understanding that we don’t need eyes to survive.
“My wife is the one who reminded me about our anniversary and my wish is to buy her a washing-machine to ease her workload. “We are capable of surviving because we attended special schools and go to support groups for people with disabilities.
“Our challenge is that our furniture keeps breaking when we move from one place to another as we are renting.”
Lulama said she didn’t want a helper as she enjoyed doing things for her family. She said Kabelo was born blind, as were his father and grandfather.
“That is why our children are blind and it is not a burden for us. I hope we have another happy 10 years together,” she said.
