Tiger Woods is set to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom, Monday from President Trump, following his fifth Masters win, April. The American Golf champion will be honoured by the president of the United states, Donald Trump at the White House.
Trump a few weeks ago watched in awe as Woods won his 15th major championship at Augusta National. The announcement was made by Trump via his twitter account where he wrote;
“Spoke to @TigerWoods to congratulate him on the great victory he had in yesterday’s @TheMasters, & to inform him that because of his incredible Success & Comeback in Sports (Golf) and, more importantly, LIFE, I will be presenting him with the PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF FREEDOM!”
The Medal of Freedom recognizes individuals who have made “an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors,” according to the executive order designating the award.
Woods will join Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Charlie Sifford as golfers who have received the award.
