Music diva, Tiwa Savage has unwrapped more details about her newly-signed juicy deal with Universal Music Group, UMG.
The Nigerian singer said she met other music companies before settling for Universal Music Group’s deal that presented her with an opportunity to conquer the world with Afrobeat music.
Speaking with Arise News, the mother-of-one held that UMG provided solutions to some of the things she’s been striving for, aside having opportunity to put Afrobeat music on the same platform as other notable international genres of music.
“It is just like a natural progression in your career when you conquer your country, then your continent, then the next thing is world domination,” said Tiwa.
“Basically it is having that opportunity to be able to distribute my music to over 60 countries and just being part the Universal Music Group global with Rihanna and other A-lists artistes internationally… is having that opportunity to have afrobeat music have the same opportunity other genres have.”
“A few labels have approached me and we have meetings with a couple of them, but towards the end of last year, I believe that Universal Music seems to get my brand and medium then we went back and forth between lawyers. I am really happy with the deal I got because there were really certain things I was fighting for and I got them eventually,” the singer said.
Earlier today, Within Nigeria reported that the ‘Ife Wa Gbonna’ singer still has business dealings that will fetch her lifetime royalties from her former record label, Mavin Records, headed by respected music producer, Don Jazzy.
