Okey Bakassi confessed that his daughter’s qualification for her athletics career came to him as a surprise as he had doubted her ability to post such a feat considering that she was running against older students.
The proud father may have struck a bet with the daughter before the race, and revealed afterwards, that he now owes his daughter $1,000 having done what he had considered impossible.
The Canada based student ran 100m in 12.7sec as revealed by her father Okey Bakassi on his instagram on Friday.
Announcing his daughter’s achievement, Okey Bakassi wrote:
“I’ve put myself in trouble….. Early this year my #daughter was worried she wouldn’t qualify for OFSAA(Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations), because she will be running in the Senior category against Students older than her. As a #father I had to motivate her, I promised to give her $1000 if she qualified and another $1000 if she ran at #OFSAA and finished top 3.
“She qualified last night, running her 100m PB of 12.7sec. I’m now owing her $1000. Congratulations Chidera #futureolympian #canada #naijablood
Pls if anyone has $1000 you don’t need, just give it to me.
