An artisan and a suspected member of Baga Confraternity, a cult group, Iruchukwu Nnebe, has been stabbed to death.
Nnebe was believed to be about 25 years from Amankpunato in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The deceased was allegedly stabbed by a co-artisan identified as Izuchukwu Ifeacho, also from Amankpunato, on May 31.
Ifeacho said the deceased had been pressurising him to join the cult group but that he always refused and avoided him.
The suspect recalled that on the night of that fateful day, he had gone for his dinner at a certain restaurant.
He said the deceased and some other cultists trailed him to the restaurant and told him that Korofo would suck blood since he did not want to join them.
Ifeacho added that following the confrontation, the deceased and his associates started beating him and that he ran away.
The suspect said he got a kitchen knife and returned to the scene where he stabbed Nnebe.
Police spokesman Ebere Amaraizu, a Superintendent (SP), said the deceased was conveyed to the hospital for medical attention and was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
The body of the deceased was deposited at the general hospital mortuary at Oji River.
Also, Police Commissioner Suleiman Balarabe has directed a full-scale investigation into the incident.
The suspect is said to be helping operatives of the command in their investigation.
