Residents of Ede town have registered their dissatisfaction over the poor telecommunication network coverage long and frequently – experience in the town.
WITHINNIGERIA Correspondent, gathered that Poor network coverage has since been a serious technological menace today in Ede and its environs,had long been a subject of Serious concern to residents of Ede. As use of various means of telecommunication now becomes an integrated part of society and information found to be one of the most important elements for the efficient growth of an economy.
The residents while recounting their ordeal exposed the flaws of network providers in the community,expressed that ‘network is so perturbing for users within Ede town where there are amples of government agencies,private parastatals and educational institutions’ while pointing out server failure as one of the challenges that is affecting the smooth run of network utilization in the town.
A businesswoman at Oja timi in Ede, Adebola Basirat disclosed that ‘we have be experiencing the network difficulties for years now ,all network generally,no exemption,sometimes it very difficult to make calls even during emergency situation,the difficult of all is using the GPRS system, to browse in Ede is always difficult, it bad,all network providers should just do something immediately’she said.
Another business owner at Ede,Mr. Adedeji Jubril berate the network providers over the bad experiences,stressing that the network constraints brought about a reduced productivity to many businesses in the community.
Students of Federal Polytechnic,Ede,Redeemer’s University and Adeleke University in Ede supplements the people’s plight,also expressed their displeasure over the network glitch frequently experience in the community while describing it as ‘frustrating’.
Ajayi Adedotun,a student of Accountancy at the Federal Polytechnic,Ede disclosed that ‘ the poor network is a serious obstacle for student in Ede polytechnic and in Ede at large,the bad network affect us extentively when we are carrying out our daily academic activities’.
Similiarly,research has proven that Ede town when compared with other town lack the necessary infrastructure required for the deployment of telecommunication services.
However,the residents appeal to concerned agencies,especially network providers in Nigeria to take laudable steps and put in place necessary infrastructures and measures to relieve the network users of further technological discomfort in the community.
