There is tension in Abraka community, Ethiope-East Local Government Area of Delta State as an 18-year-old girl, Favour Ogheneyenrowho Sunday, was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend who is unknown to her family.
The suspect, who is now at large, was said to have shaven the girl’s pubic hairs before strangling her to death and tucking the copse in a “Ghana-must-Go” bag, and dropped same at a dumpsite behind Ozoro Park in Abraka.
There were violent marks around the neck of the deceased, an indication that she was strangled to death in an attempt to have carnal knowledge of her.
The police said it was a murder case and that investigation is ongoing.
The remains of the deceased has since been deposited at a morgue in Abraka.
Maureen Sunday, an elder sister to the deceased, told the police that before the death of her sister, a call from a man at about 10am, requesting that she should come and meet him at Abraka park but she replied that she was going to the market with her elder sister.
Maureen said on their way out of their residence at Winners Road, a male which she has never seen before (but believes was the same person that called earlier), had a short conversation with her sister and thereafter, she (Favour) joined him on a bike and they both zoomed off, as she warned her to return home early enough.
She then expressed shock to find out the following day that her sister, who did not return home that day, was found dead and tied with ropes in a sack.
Maureen said she can identify the suspect if she comes across him.
When contacted, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Adeyinka Adeleke confirmed the report.
He explained that it is a case of murder and not ritual killing as was being speculated by some persons.
