Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr, has dropped his usual number one goalkeeper Francis Uzoho, for today’s Africa Cup of Nations opener against Burundi, ACL Sport reports.
Instead, Rohr has opted for Daniel Akpeyi, to start against the debutants.
The German has also left out of Odion Ighalo and will start with powerful frontman, Paul Onuachu.
Jamiu Collins has taken ill, so Ola Aina will play at left-back.
Villarreal winger, Samuel Chukwueze, who had an outstanding season in LaLiga, takes the place of Samuel Kalu, who collapsed in training on Friday.
As widely expected, Ogenekaro Etebo of Stoke City takes Alex Iwobi’s place in the centre of midfield.
The returning John Mikel Obi will captain the side.
Kick off is 6pm West African time.
