Nemanja Vidic is set to return to Manchester United in an under-23s coaching role.
The Serbian has reportedly been offered the chance to make an emotional return to Old Trafford and work with former teammate, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Vidic retired from football in January 2016 halfway through his second season at Inter Milan, where he moved after a trophy-laden nine years at United
The centre-back won five Premier League titles and the Champions League in 2008 during his time at the club.
Reports of the United offer came from Serbian journalist Nebojsa Markovic, who tweeted that Vidic’s close friend and best man Nenad Lalatovic had told him about the offer.
Lalatovic saiid: “Vidic lives in Milan and he is currently considering coaching, he is not yet sure. He was already offered to run Manchester United B.
“I told him, “this is an ideal opportunity if you want to do it – to go back to England, you’ll take over tomorrow and Manchester, you have a great name there and I think that’s the right decision for you.
“But he has not decided yet. I’m supporting him being coach at Manchester United, as then there is a chance for him to take over the first team in the future.”
United’s second side have been without a manager, since May after Ricky Sbragia left his role.
