Aisha Ibrahim, ex-wife of a cleric, Muhammad Usman was dragged on Monday before a Sharia Court II at Magajin Gari, Kaduna state as the cleric seeks the custody of his five-year-old child.
According to NAN reports, Counsel to Mustapha Yahaya also begged the court to evict Ibrahim from his house located at Rigasa, Kaduna.
He told the court that on June 15, a court at Mando, Kaduna, confirmed the divorce.
That court ordered Muhammad to pay N20,000 monthly for the upkeep of the five-year-old child.
“We have not defaulted in paying that money. We are praying for the court to grant us custody of the five-year-old and evict her from our house,” the counsel said.
Counsel to the defendant, Auwal Shittu accepted that his client, Ibrahim of Rigasa, Kaduna, still lived in the complainant’s house.
Shittu, however, said that the girl was only three years old.
He said that, his client also gave birth to a girl two months ago and prayed the court to give them four months in order to get another apartment to move in.
“We also pray to the court to order him to pay us the N8,800 we spent on treating his two-month-old baby while she was ill”.
After listening to both parties, the Judge, Murtala Nasir adjourned the case until Aug. 29 for judgment.
He also ordered the defendant to produce all receipts for the medication used in the treatment for the two-month-old baby.
