Catholic clerics in Enugu, on Friday, staged a rally to condemn the murder of one their colleagues, Reverend Fr. Paul Offu, on the night of August 1, 2019. A Catholic priest of Enugu Diocese, Reverend Fr. Paul Offu, was murdered in Awgu Local Government Area of the state around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday night.
His departure happened barely five months after Rev. Fr. Clement Ugwu, the parish priest of St Mark Catholic Church, Obinofia Ndiuno, was murdered.
Fr. Ugwu, who was abducted on March 20, 2019, was found lifeless in a bush decaying after a one-week search by his parishioners.
Fr. Offu’s death comes on the heels of a fresh attack on Ikechukwu Ilo, another Reverend Father, along Nomeh, on Wednesday, July 17, by suspected abductores who opened fire on him after he refused to stop his car.
The cleric reportedly sustained gunshot wounds and is currently recovering in an undisclosed hospital.
