Not less than seven out of 16 governorship aspirants of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from Kogi East have collapsed there structures to support Captain Idris Wada former governor of Kogi State.
One of the spokepersons of Kogi East Elders Council , Arc. Gabriel Aduku, disclosed this on Tuesday, while addressing newsmen in Lokoja ahead of the PDP governorship primaries.
According to him there was a meeting between them and nine governorship aspirants from kKogi East that were contesting on Monday till Tuesday morning.
He mentioned that at the meeting it was seriously deliberated upon that there was no need for everyone to contest, rather, they should come up with a person that has the experience and will be able to deliver the state.
He said at the end of the meeting seven of the aspirants agreed to stepdown for the former governor of the state, Captain Idris Wada.
Those that stepped down for Wada include AVM Salihu Atawodi, Muhammed Tetes, Emmanuel Omebije, Mrs Grace Iye Adejor, Dr. Victor Adoji.
He said that Wada has just one term to spend and as such it will be good if given the chance to complete his tenure as governor of the state.
Also speaking, the former deputy governor of old Benue State, Sule Iyagi, said they decided to back Wada because of his experience stressing that that was the main reason they appealed to other aspirants to stepdown for him.
