The management of Ede Polytechnic, Osun State shut down the school at the academic board meeting held on Tuesday 10th September 2019, the School Managenent has directed the students to proceed on a compulsory mid second semester break for 2018/2019 Academic Session with immediate effect, Withinnigeria reports.
Withinnigeria Correspondent, Adejayan Gsong had reported that the Academic Staff Union(ASUP), Ede Polytechnic chapter had on Friday passed vote of no confidence on the School Management for condoning indiscipline following an alleged mistreatment of a staff by the president of the students’ union of the institution, Rufai Opeyemi Lukman.
However, in a swift reaction, the union congress met today with the school Governing council. While there were indications that the meeting ended in a deadlock.
Consequently, the Authority of the School has directed students to vacate Halls of Residence latest 2:00pm on Tuesday 10th September, 2019.
Meanwhile the Polytechnic would reopen for normal academic activities on Wednesday 25th September 2019 while the second semester examination will commence immediately on resumption.
This was disclosed in a memo duly signed by Dr. O.A Ogunleye “Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council”.
