Tanzanian singer, Vanessa Mdee had a rush of bitter-sweet memories as she arrived at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa as a judge for East Africa Got Talent competition.
The music star revealed that she once enrolled in the institution for an undergraduate degree but dropped out after her father died because they couldn’t afford the tuition fees. Vanessa, however, had an amazing turnaround over the years and is now returning to the University as a judge for a talent show.
“Full circle moment for me; I dropped out of college when Dad died to pursue my career at MTV AFRICA (we couldn’t afford it anymore). Today I return to that very same college as a judge on @eastafricagt to see someone else’s dreams become a reality. Bittersweet memories BE GONE, we are making history over the next 3 weeks. WE GO LIVE at 8pm EAT. These are the semi-finals,” she wrote.
Vanessa Mdee had also revealed a few weeks ago that she is clinically blind in one eye. She also added that it did not stop her from achieving her dream.
“It’s unusual for someone so young to sing so soulfully, you can tell that you’ve been through stuff I’m clinically blind in one eye as well but that hasn’t stopped me from pursuing my biggest dreams. Let that be the fuel for you no matter what happens at the end of this competition to me you are a winner and you’re going to continue winning,” she wrote.
