Amazing Nigerian journalist, Rita Okoye, who writes for The Sun Newspaper, has emerged as the Entertainment Writer of the Year at the 13th edition of Nigeria Media Nite-Out Awards (NMNA).
The writer clinched the award alongside fellow writers of the Newspaper Ayo Alonge, and Funsho Arogundade, who won the ‘Business writer and Society writer of the year’ awards respectively.
The event themed:
“The Nigerian Economy and Political Development: Finding the Missing Piece,” was held at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, on Sunday.
The keynote address was delivered by a former presidential aspirant, John Onche Shaibu. The Zamfara State governor, Bello Matawalle, who was the special guest of honour, was recognised as the Most Security-Conscious Governor of the Year.
Rita described as a seasoned entertainment and lifestyle writer, is popular because of her weekly entertainment page, Inside Nollywood. She is one of the most sought after entertainment correspondents in the nation.
The Anambra State born writer stated that her joy knows no bounds as she looks forward to getting bigger achievements.
“I’m happy to say that indeed hard work pays. I appreciate the organizers for putting this together to encourage all media practitioners out there. We need to celebrate ourselves, this job is not an easy one. I also hope and pray for more recognition home and abroad,” she said.
