President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of the National Auditor of the All Progressives Congress (APC) George Moghalu as the new Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).
According to a statement signed by NIWA Spokesman, Tayo Fadile, Moghalu’s appointment is coming one month after President Muhammadu Buhari had appointed the immediate past NIWA MD, Sen. Olorunibe Mamora a Minister of State for Health.
Following his appointment, the Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO) has hailed President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing Dr. George Moghalu as managing Director/CEO of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), while describing his appointment as the best independence gift to the Southeast.
With the appointment, the new MD will be the 8th MD of NIWA since it’s inception in 1998. Other past managing director of NIWA are Engr. Diori Rubiu Abubakar (pioneering MD), Engr. Zabairu Yakubu, Mrs Chinese Ezenwa (A.g MD), Arch. Aminu Yar’adua, Hajia Mariam Corona, Boss Mustapha and Sen. Olorunimibe Mamora.
