Housewife burns 7-year-old step-daughter’s private part in Borno

A 38-year-old woman, Hauwa Adamu has been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for allegedly flaming charcoal to burn the private parts of her seven-year-old stepdaughter.

This was revealed to newsmen by the NSCDC Commandant, Mr Abdullahi Ibrahim on Wednesday in Maiduguri where he also disclosed that the woman was arrested in Moduganari Area of Maiduguri.

NSCDC Commandant disclosed that horrible acts of punishment allegedly meted on the minor by Adamu because she did not obey his instructions before the case was reported to the command by people who felt for the girl child.

According to Ibrahim, the girl (victim) has been subjected to different forms of abuse by the suspect as revealed by preliminary investigations.

Due to separation of the girl’s parents, she was put under the care of the suspect and the case had been moved to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons for further investigation and action, he said.
