Nine days after abduction, a local government councillor, Alhaji Gambo Sama’ila Yarliyau, his wife and one-year-old daughter along with two others have been released on Friday night by repentant bandits in Katsina State.
This was contained in a press statement signed and released by the Director of Media to Governor Aminu Bello Masari, Malam Labara Malumfashi made available to reporters in Katsina on Saturday.
Malam disclosed that “the councillor who represents Barkiya Ward of Kurfi Local Government Area and the two members of his family, were presented to the Governor Friday evening by the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Jabiru AbdulLahi Tsauri.
According to reports, two people released with the councillor (names withheld) looked traumatized and were taken to Kurfi hospital for medical attention.
Governor Masari expressed confidence that there would be no more kidnap victims in captivity from Katsina in a matter of time as all those known to be gang-kidnapped have regained their freedom leaving a statement that the bandits have been gradually fulfilling their promise to release all the victims in their hands.
