Nigeria deports seven Koreans, bans them for life

Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari and South Korean Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Lee In Tae.

Seven nationals of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea have been deported from Nigeria by the Federal Government.

The deported Korea nationals identified as Jo Sun Phil, Jang Sung Chol, Che Chunk Hyok, Pak Yong Gon, Ri Yong Il, Ri Hak Su, and Ri Tong Nam.

Muhammad Babanded, the Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service carried out the deportation order on Tuesday in Abuja.

According to reports, the deportees were banned from returning to the country for life because they were alleged of involving in acts solely attempting to undermine national security.

In a statement signed and released by the immigration service spokesman, DCI Sunday James said the Koreans were deported to their country of origin on Tuesday through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

“They were deported on the orders of the Minister of Interior based on the powers conferred on him by the Immigration Act 2015,” the statement noted.
