Kanye West hasn’t officially released his newest work, “Jesus is King,” but the polarizing hip-hop star is already making waves about the future of his music’s direction.
After days of playing his album at public listening sessions, West reportedly said he’s done making secular music. To his best knowledge, rap music belongs to the devil that’s why he has turned to Christianity.
Pastor Adam Tyson, recently sat down with Christian-based media outlet Apologia, for an interview published on Thursday (Oct. 17), where he talked about Kanye’s walk with Christ and his musical stance.
Kanye started visiting our church back in mid-May,” Tyson, who is the senior pastor at Placerita Bible Church in Newhall, Calif., revealed. After showing up to the service a few times, Kanye asked to speak with Tyson.
“Kanye said, ‘about five weeks ago, I got radically saved, Tyson continued. He just started telling me a little about his testimony.”
Kanye revealed to Tyson he turned to Christianity after feeling bogged down by the sins of chasing fame in the music industry and he was on the verge of giving up the rap game.
One time, he told me that he wasn’t going to rap;
” Tyson revealed around the 23:30 mark. “I said, ‘Why not?’ He said, ‘That’s the devil’s music.’ I said, ‘Hey, man. Rap is a genre. You can rap for God.’ I think he was already thinking about it a little bit, but I definitely said, ‘Hey, bro. I think you need to use your talents that God’s given you and use that platform for God.’”
