The Nigerian music scene has indeed enjoyed global appeal and without doubt has won the heart of global audience. A lot of people including football stars have all caught the bug, and can’t do without having Nigerian afro-beat on their playlist.
Afrobeats has become so popular that the songs are played in premier league clubs dressing rooms, while a lot of the players also have some of the music on their phone.
Liverpool star, Gini Wijnaldum is the latest premier league to show he is a lover of Nigerian music after he shared a link of his music playlist. The Holland international took to Twitter to share his playlist with fans, while also asking them to suggest new music for him.

On the playlist, Nigerian stars, Wizkid and Burnaboy featured heavily. Wijnaldum is a big fan of Wizkid’s Ghetto Love, while a couple of songs from Burna Boy’s African Giant album featured on Gini’s playlist. This comes after Brazilian superstar, Neymar Jnr was seen listening to Burnaboy’s Ye while training in the Gym. Rihana is also a fan of Nigerian star Burna Boy as she was seen in a video that made it way online dancing to the African giant’s sound.
Wijnaldum has made 14 appearances so far for Liverpool in all competitions this season, scoring one goal. Liverpool sit on top of the Premier League table with 31 points after 11 matches. .
