Femi Falana, Popular activist and the lead counsel of #RevolutionNow Convener and Publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore has slammed the Department of State Service (DSS) over the continous detention of his client.
In a statement released by the lead counsel, Femi Falana stated that officials of Department of State Security were not authorised to carry out or demand such after the DSS insisted that identities of Sowore’s sureties must be verified before releasing him.
“Pursuant to the verification of the sureties of Omoyele Sowore and Olawale Bakare by the Federal High Court, the trial judge, the Honourable Justice Ifeoma Ojukwu made an order on November 6, 2019 for the release of the defendants from the custody of the DSS,” Falana said in a statement.
“The Court Order has not authorised the DSS to approve the sureties before releasing Sowore and Bakare from custody.”
