The order 13 on the senate standing orders which enable it sit on Friday to conclude its legislative business before adjourning seat for the Christmas and New Year break has been suspended on Thursday by the Senate to show respect to the demise.
The order was suspended after a motion by the Senate leader, Yahaya Abdullahi drew the attention of the Senate to the sudden demise of Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu, on Wednesday.
The deceased, Uwajumogu was a senator representing the good people of Imo North Senatorial District until he passed on.
A minute silence was observed by the senate in honor of late Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu and all businesses on its order paper were suspended after the minute silence.
Order 13 (2) of the Senate Standing Orders 2015 as amended, reads: “On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, the Senate shall meet at 10.00am and unless previously adjourned shall sit until 2.00pm…”
