Food items worth millions of Naira have been distributed to vulnerable groups of people in Gombe State by the First Lady of the country, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, in order to carter of their need.
While distributing the food items, on behalf of the First Lady on Saturday, Gombe State First Lady, Hajiya Asma’u Yahaya said that Aisha Buhari sent in the food items because she has the people of Gombe in her mind and will do everything possible to make life better for them.
Asma”u Yahaya said that: “The First Lady has the people of Gombe State in mind and that was why she was demonstrating such through the distribution of the food items which the people particularly the vulnerable groups need now. This is because she wants to give them a sense of belonging.”
The Gombe State First Lady added that there was no religious nor ethnic consideration as the food items were meant for those that needed the assistance and that the distribution was done based on the needs of the vulnerable group.
She appreciated the groups for their cooperation during the distribution and further called on the leaders of the groups to do justice while sharing the items by ensuring that everyone got what is meant for them no matter how little.
In his remarks, the Special Assistant Media and Publicity to Mr President through the office of the First Lady, Malam Abdulahi Aliyu, said that the decision to share the food items was informed by the nature of Gombe people who were predominantly self-reliant.
Abdullahi Aliyu also commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya, for the good work he has started since he assumed office expressing confidence that with the way the APC administration is going, Gombe State will be better and will regain its lost glory.
Chairman of the people living with disabilities groups in the state, Alhaji Umar Ali Goro, thanked the Buhari for the kind gesture and called on her to do more for the less privileged in the society to enable them to live a good life.
The beneficiaries of the items were drawn from groups including, FOMWAN, CAN women group, widows group, Maroka group, people living with disabilities, and correctional services inmates.
The food items distributed include 1000 bags of rice, 600 cartons of Spaghetti and 300 25-litre jerricans of vegetable oil distributed to correctional homes, women groups and orphanage in the state.
