Burna Boy who achieved a great feat in his musical career after being nominated for the Grammy Awards in the World Best Music Album category has lost to Beninese singer-songwriter, Angelique Kidjo.
Angelique Kidjo, defeated Nigeria’s Burna Boy and three other nominees to win the Best World Music Album at the 62nd Grammy Awards on Sunday at the Staples Center, Los Angeles.
Singer, actress, and activist, Kidjo, who Time magazine has referred to as an “Africa’s premier diva” is noted for her diverse musical influences and creative music videos.
Angélique Kidjo however dedicated her ‘Best World Music’ Grammy to Burna Boy, saying that Burna Boy is among those young African artist changing the way our Continent is perceived…

Burna Boy alongside Altin Gun, “Gece”, Bokante & Metropole Orkest conducted by Jules Buckley, “What Heat”, Nathalie Joachim with Spektral Quartet, “Fanm D’Ayiti”, and Angelique Kidjo, “Celia” were all nominated in the category.
Burna Boy joins the likes of Seun Kuti, Femi Kuti and King Sunny Ade in getting listed in that category at the Grammy Awards.In 2007.
Other Nigerian Grammy nominees include, Babatune Olatunji, Wizkid, Timaya and Kah Lo. Sikiru Adepoju won the Grammy Awards in 1991 and 2009.
