Bambula community in Chibok local government area of Borno state has been attacked by suspected members of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) in the early hours of today, February 26th.
WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that these suspected members also abducted many persons including Mohammed Abba who is the head of the civilian joint task force (JTF) in the community.
It was also learnt that the insurgents stormed their community around 4am while people of the community were still asleep.
“The sporadic gunshots woke us, and everybody started running to safety. The insurgents came in through Ajigum Talala, a part of the forest where ISWAP has a strong unit. They headed straight to Abba and took him. They have been warning him before but Abba refused to cooperate with them.
A resident disclosed that ISWAP members abducted many others who could not run. They also burnt down some properties including a vehicle belonging to the community head.
As at the time of filing this report, the Nigerian Army is yet to comment on the latest attack.
