57 years after Sanusi’s grandfather, Sir Muhammadu Sanusi I was dethroned as the Emir of Kano, history has repeated itself on Monday as the Governor Abdullahi Ganduje removed the 14th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II.
WITHIN NIGERIA gathered that late Muhammadu Sanusi I was dethroned over an alleged power tussle between him and his distant cousin, Sir Ahmadu Bello who was the Sardauna of Sokoto.
According to findings, a probe panel was set up by Sir Ahmadu Bello recommended the dethronement of Sir Muhammadu Sanusi to Sir Kashim Ibrahim, the then governor of Northern Region.
WITHIN NIGERIA had earlier reported that the Kano State Government under the leadership of Governor Umar Ganduje has removed the 14th Emir of Kano over disrespect to the office of the governor and other government agencies.
Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II was removed from office for disrespecting lawful instruction from the state governor, persistent refusal to attend official meetings and breaching of part 3 section 13 (a-e) of the Kano Emirate law 2019.
The state government through its Secretary disclosed that Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II has been sacked and a new Emir of Kano has been announced.
