No fewer than 12 out of the 19 travelers who were abducted by bandits on their way to Katsina from Minna, the capital of Niger state have been rescued as announced by the Katsina State Government on Wednesday.
WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the bandits carried out the kidnap operation disguised as security men at Maraba Kankara village in Kankara LGA of the state.
According to report, the victims were flagged down by men in uniform whom the passengers thought were policemen but later realised they were bandits.
The rescued victims were received by the Secretary to the Government of Katsina State, Mustapha Inuwa on behalf of Governor Aminu Bello Masari.
Masari told newsmen that their release was facilitated by the cooperation between the government and the repentant bandits who immediately swung into action on the directive by government on the incident.
