Policeman escorting Taskforce to enforce lockdown Eneka market shoot female colleague dead in Rivers State

There was pandemonium in a market at Eneka town in Obio-Akpo LGA of Rivers State around 5pm today after a Policeman shot a female colleague dead in public.

Rivers State Taskforce were dispatched to various markets to enforce lockdown order today and trouble started when the officers who arrived at Eneka started destroying goods of the traders on street.

One of the Policemen who escorted the Taskforce team had an encounter with a shoe trader who was preventing them from confiscation his goods and was resisting arrest.  

According to reports, the scene began to look like a fierce brawl before a Policewoman in the area interfered. The Policewoman who meddled into the situation was pleading for a lenient action against the Trader but the policeman was threatening to shoot the trader if he doesn’t stop resisting arrest. As the Policeman pointed his gun, the trader was lucky to be missed and the bullet hits the policewoman on her head, leaving her in her own pool of blood.

Scene of incident

According to eyewitnesses in the market, the deceased left a 2 year old child behind, she usually leaves the child with her Nanny at a shop in the same Eneka first market junction.
