A former speaker of Jigawa State House of Assembly, Adamu Sarawa, is dead.
He was 66 years old.
Mansur Ahmad, media aide to a former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, said Mr Sarawa died in Kano on Monday, after a brief illness.
The deceased hailed from Gurgun Daho community in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
He was a speaker from the year 2007 to 2015 under the then Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led administration in the state.
He was a one-time chairman of Kafin-Hausa, majority leader in the state assembly under former ANPP-led Ibrahim Saminu Turaki. He led Jigawa State Pilgrims delegations as Amirul Hajj several times.
He is a political ally to former governor, Mr Lamido.
The deceased would be laid to rest at his home town, Gurgun Daho of Kafin Hausa local government, according to Islamic rites.
Late Mr Sarawa death has joined the series of mysterious deaths ravaging Kano State.
He is survived by two wives and many children and grandchildren.
