Two hundred and sixty five Nigerians on Wednesday night arrived the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, via an Emirate Airline.
The aircraft that brought them touched down at the airport at 7.40 p.m.
They had earlier been scheduled to arrive the airport at 3.00 p.m. but due to one of the passengers who went into labour, the plane had to make a U-turn to UAE.
Nigerian government had announced that a woman, Kafayat Amusan put to bed 30 minutes after departure, which resulted in the plane returning back to Dubai after take off.
She is on admission at a hospital in Dubai.
The statement by NIDCOM further stated the Nigerian Ambassador in Dubai, Rimi and staff of the Embassy are in touch with the mother and child who are in good condition.
Emirates Airline had to change to another aircraft, which is enroute to Lagos with 265 returnees on board.
Chairman/CEO Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, congratulated Mrs. Amusan for another addition to her family and prayed she returns safely to the country.
Dabiri-Erewa said she will return to Nigeria after obtaining birth certificate and other necessary travel documents for the baby.
