Following several weeks of lockdown, across Nigeria,Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state has warned that his administration will review the ease of the lockdown if residents of the state do not improve in their adherence to all the guidelines issued before the ease of the lockdown came into effect on Monday May 4.
Speaking during the daily press briefing to update the state on measures being taken to stop the spread of Coronavirus in the state, Governor Sanwo-Olu decried the outright disobedience to the order for all residents of the state to put on a face mask when in public places.
”The gradual easing of this lockdown is dependent on the compliance of each and everyone of us which is the hashtag Take Responsibility. As a government elected to uphold the security of its citizens which includes the health security, let me make it clear that we will not hesitate to review the terms of this easing if we do not see an improvement in the next couple of days. People have to take responsibility.
This face mask wearing is to protect yourself. You have to help us protect you and protect your loved one. It is not a showpiece. It is really to protect you and your family. If you have any public engagement, make sure you wear a face mask.
We have also heard of people that are sharing face mask. Please let us desist from this very uncivilised act. People are not meant to be sharing facemask in public places” he said
