Two hotels have been reportedly demolished by the Rivers state government for violating lockdown directives
WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the two hotels affected are Prodest Hotel, Eleme and Etemeteh Hotel, Onne for allegedly violating the lockdown order.
This is coming days after Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike imposed a lockdown and directed all hotels in the state to suspend services immediately as parts of measures to check the spread of COVID-19.
Wike had warned residents that failure to comply with the order would attract stiff penalties.
It was also learnt that Governor Wike reportedly supervised the demolition of the hotel in Eleme on Sunday afternoon while other government officials headed to Onne.

In a related story, WITHIN NIGERIA reported that over 100 residents of Rivers state have been arrested and prosecuted by the State Police Command for violating a lockdown order issued by the state government.
WITHIN NIGERIA had earlier reported that Governor Nyesom Wike had announced the closure of land and sea borders in the state and a ban on vehicles entering or leaving the state.
