Ondo records first COVID-19 death

Ondo State has recorded its first COVID-19 death as announced by the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Wahab Adegbenro, in Akure the state capital on Monday.

The commissioner said the deceased was already receiving treatment at the state’s Infectious Disease Hospital before he died.

He added that the deceased had an underlying health challenge of renal failure, which worsened his case and eventually led to his death. He explained that the deceased, a man, was one of those that came into the state from Lagos State after testing positive for coronavirus.

The commissioner said the remains of the deceased would be buried in accordance with the laid down rules by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

He, however, noted that the other COVID-19 patients in the state IDH were in stable condition.

Away from that, the Ondo State House of Assembly says it will resume legislative duties on Tuesday, after its indefinite break declared on April 7 in order to contain the spread of coronavirus in the state.
