Lagos State Government on Wednesday announced that a 98-year-old woman has recovered from coronavirus after treatment at one of the state’s facilities.
“Today, we discharged a 98-year-old woman, our oldest #COVID19 patient in Lagos,” Lagos State governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu tweeted.
The 98-year-old woman, Sanwo-Olu said, was discharged alongside 25 other persons who had previously tested positive to coronavirus in Lagos State.
The governor said 25 others are 13 males and 12 females, discharged from our isolation centres after testing negative for #COVID19.
The newly discharged patients bring the total of coronavirus patients discharged in Lagos to 528.
Nigeria currently has 4,787 coronavirus cases with Lagos State being the hardest-hit with 2006 cases. Thirty-three patients have died in Lagos so far.
Sanwo-Olu urged Lagos residents to sustain the guidelines of social distancing, wearing face mask, using alcohol-based hand sanitizers and avoid mass gathering to prevent further spread of the disease.
“As our frontline health workers continue to sacrifice and push through, let us play our roles by following the public health guidelines, observing physical distancing and wearing our face masks,” Sanwo-Olu said.
