Tragedy as 36-year-old doctor dies from COVID-19 complications in Jigawa

Three doctors test positive to COVID-19 in Lagos

Tragedy as a 36-year-old medical doctor identified as Nasir Adam reportedly died from COVID-19 complications in Jigawa state.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the young doctor, Nasir died at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Birninkudu after battling with acute respiratory disease and was later said to have contracted the novel Coronavirus.

Nasir was the Medical officer in the Department of Internal Medicine, Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kudu in the state before his death.

According to reports, Nasir was born in Jos, Plateau State capital in 1984. The deceased doctor had his primary and secondary education in Jos. He graduated from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria in 2012 and did his housemanship in the Federal Medical Center.

In a related story, WITHIN NIGERIA reported that sixteen almajiris who are Islamic school pupils recently sent to Jigawa from Kano State have tested positive for the Coronavirus, the Jigawa State government has announced.

The state commissioner of health, Abba Zakari, said on Thursday via a Facebook press conference that 45 samples were returned, of which 16 were positive.
