PDP, Ekiti Governor Fayemi battle with words over ‘sale of Governor’s Lodge’

There was a verbal exchange between the Ekiti State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor Kayode Fayemi during the weekend over alleged sale of the state’s Governor’s lodge in Abuja.

In a statement released by the opposition party which was signed by the Secretary of the PDP caretaker committee in Ekiti, Diran Odeyemi, the PDP accused the governor of selling the building to an undisclosed investor.

The party described the move as an act of financial recklessness and misgovernance.

Reacting on the position of the PDP, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications to Governor Fayemi, Segun Dipe denied the allegation.

He described it as spurious and a monumental falsehood that lacked content of validity.

He said that his administration was just carrying out reconstruction of the lodge, having been allegedly abandoned throughout the administration of former Governor Ayodele Fayose, thus becoming inhabitable.

Governor Fayemi told the opposition and those he branded as ill-informed propagandist “to savour the freedom of information law of the state to investigate these facts, instead of embarking on a wild goose chase.”
