Nigeria Correctional Centre has released former Abia Governor, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu from Kuje Custodial Centre, Abuja where he was serving a 12-year sentence.
This is coming days after a Federal High Court in Lagos ordered his release from the Kuje Custodial Centre.
Recall that Justice Mohammad Liman of the Federal High Court in Lagos ordered the release of Kalu on Tuesday following his conviction last December for alleged looting of N7.65b belonging to Abia.
It was learnt that Senator Kalu Orji was released around 7:30pm.
In a related story, WITHIN NIGERIA reported that the Nigerian Correctional Service has revealed why the former 7Abia State Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu is still in their custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) in Abuja despite an order of immediate release of the convicted senator which was issued by a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos.
