A 15-year-old girl (name withheld) has been freed by a Yaba Magistrates’ Court in Lagos after she was charged with murdering a 51-year-old man Babatunde Ishola who allegedly attempted to rape her.
WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the murder charge filed by the police against the Senior Secondary School (SS3) pupil was struck out by Magistrate Philip Adebowale Ojo following advice from the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).
Reacting on the development, the Director, Lagos State Office of the Public Defender (OPD), Dr. Babajide Martins whose office defended the teenager bro bono expressed satisfaction with the court’s decision.

According to Jessica Obinomeh, she alleged that her mother and siblings tortured her with a hot iron, compelling her to lie that her father raped her.
Jessica further revealed that the mother and her siblings plotted to shame her father who is based in abroad and his extended family.
