Nigeria records 573 new cases of coronavirus as toll rises to 16,658

Ondo State seek for patient discharged from FMC before her COVID-19 result arrived positive

Nigeria on Monday recorded 573 new cases of coronavirus.

The announcement was made by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control in a tweet via its official Twitter account.

According to the agency, Lagos recorded 216 cases, while Rivers followed with 103.

This means Nigeria’s total now stands at 16,658

16,658 confirmed cases in Nigeria, 5,349 patients have been discharged, with 424 deaths recorded.”

Meanwhile, the federal government yesterday warned state governments against reopening of schools, saying it was still not safe to do so. Secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, gave the warning yesterday during the daily briefing of the presidential task force (PTF) on COVID-19 in Abuja.

Mustapha who is also the chairman of the PTF appealed to state governments to embark on wider community testing, enforce rules on social distancing, step up community engagement and risk communication and pay attention to places of large gatherings.
